How to Get Here
It takes about the same amount of time to drive here from Cincinnati or Charleston (those of you west of the Mississippi ought to fly...there's not much scenery on I-70)
- Driving from Cincinnati - driving takes about 8.5 hours, plus some pit stops; usually one trip to the gas station mid-trip will get you here. I-70 to the PA turnpike is still the best way to get here. I like to stop in Breezewood PA to get gas. (There's a Dairy Queen in the Gateway building right as you get off the turnpike.)
- Driving from Charleston - take that I-26 west, hang a right onto I-95. May take about 9 hours plus pit stops. (Don't forget to stop and say 'hi' to Pedro at South of the Border'...you'll see the signs.) When you get to the mother of all traffic jams, you are in Springfield VA ("the mixing bowl")...just get in the far left lane, and pray until I-95 kind of becomes I-395. The other alternative is to use the HOV lanes (if they are open) and get off around Springfield...saves you some traffic jam time.
- Flying - Delta has a direct flight from Cincy to DC; watch it, they are laying off employees en mass. US Air has a direct flight from Charleston to DC. Both flights are less than 2 hours, I think. Try to fly into National, Dulles may be $20 cheaper, but you'll spend that $20 in gas or time getting to the church & reception.
- Other - For those of you coming from west of the Mississippi (or even close to the Mississippi, I am clueless...fly, drive, just get here safely.)
